Hard to believe we're in November already!! I hope everyone has cast their ballot for their choice of leadership of the greatest nation on earth. God Bless America!!
October was a busy month for us. We took in 2 relinquishments, obtained 2 from auction that we intercepted from landing in a VERY BAD PLACE, and Unique found her human and was adopted.
Angus and Angel came from a couple who just couldn't care for them any longer. Upon vetting Angus, we found he had cataracts and was nearly blind, had extreme uevitis, cushings, and was at least 35 years old. After unsuccessfully looking for a sanctuary for him, with the blessing of 2 separate veterinarians we made the decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge while the sun was still warm. He went peacefully, surrounded by loving hands. Angel came in with Angus, and while the vet confirmed our suspicion of cushings, she is a lovely mare in her early 20's who is healthy, sound, and appears to really like kids. She's all caught up with dental, vaccinations, worming, and just about through her professional assessment with Katie of Pasco Kahlotus Ranch. Angel will be available for adoption soon!!
Fred, as the auction folks named him and it stuck, is so adorable and has such a fun personality! Outbidding one of the killbuyers in attendance was extremely satisfying. Ella has a bit of a story. If you haven't read it on our Facebook page, I encourage you to. Let's just say that sometimes the stars align and when they do it is a beautiful thing. Fred and Ella have been in quarantine, Ella did get sick but is feeling much better now. Once they graduate into public life, they'll be off for exams, necessary dental, vaccinations, wormer etc, and with Ella's suspicious belly we'll also check her for pregnancy. Katie will do their professional training evaluations following vetting so stay tuned!!
Unique was so much fun for us, and we saw so much of her beautiful Momma in her. We couldn't be happier for her and her new family and luckily they are close by so we get to watch her continue to blossom.
As we head into the depths of winter, we have to look forward to the bright spots along the way. (especially with this crazy year) The beauty of fresh falling snow, the delight of the holidays, the warmth of alfalfa laced horse breath.
