Equine Adoption Program

Community Equine Outreach of Eastern Washington is committed to bringing into our program previously unwanted, abused and neglected horses, rehabilitating them, and find them adoptive forever homes.  As a result, we take great care in screening prospective adopters for our horses.  This process is not only a benefit to our animals, but also to you!  We take the time needed to assure a good match for our adopters as well!  Each of us at CEOEW consider our program horses treasured members of our family.  It is our goal to ensure that the horses we place will be in long-term, safe, knowledgeable, loving, caring homes.  Adoption fees will vary due to a variety of factors such as age, training level and temperament, and are set on a horse by horse basis by group consensus.

Our rehoming program is designed in a way to ensure that the adoption will be in the best interest of both the horse and the adopter.  Each step of our adoption process is vital, and helps us to identify if we have the right match.  CEOEW and its members spend countless hours getting to know each of our program horses’ individual temperament, training level, physical health and needs, and our adoption process helps us get to know each adopter’s horse experience, skill level and the types of activities they enjoy participating in with their horses.  This creates the best possible scenario for a successful adoption.  The application process requires an initial adoption application, supervised equine interaction, veterinarian/farrier/trainer references as well as personal reference checks and site inspection.

Once a prospective adopter has gone through the above process, we then vote to approve the adoption.  Once approved, we follow up with a legally binding adoption contract to ensure our horses a safe future, including the requirement of a semi-annual update, as well as the ability to visit. We love to develop friendships with our adopters and keep open communication as our horses integrate into their new owner’s lives!

Occasionally, a potential adopter is interested in a horse that just isn’t the right match, and sometimes we don’t have a horse suitable for their needs.  It is no reflection on the adopter and should the ‘right’ horse arrive at our facility we happily will notify you!

If you are interested in submitting an adoption application on one of our horses please click on the "Documents" tab at the top of the page!
